Sera Mey and Sera Jey are the two monasteries within the compound of Sera Monastery, situated at a two hours’ drive from Mysore, Karnataka, South India. The Tibetan settlement of Bylakuppe is perhaps the biggest Tibetan camp in India. The climatic condition at Bylakuppe is moderate. From Bangalore, it takes about six hours by bus.
The bus stop nearest to Sera are Bylakuppe, Koppa and Kushalnagar. A bus from Mysore will first take you to Hunsur in an hour, and then after half an hour it will reach Priyapatna. From there to Bylakuppe it will take half an hour, and then from there it will take 10 minutes to Koppa, and and around 7 minutes from Koppa to Kushalnagar.

PAP is mandatory for all foreigner who wish to visit most of the Tibetan settlements in India.
You can for apply for the PAP permit at the Indian Embassy or the Indian High Commission in your country when you apply for an Indian Visa.

Requirement:
- Copy of Valid Passport and VISA
- Two recent Passport Size Photos
- Consent Letter from the Settlement Office or the monastery that you are visiting, if you are applying through Bureau Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi
- It will take three months to process the PAP if all the necessary documents are submitted properly.

You can book our guest house at a very nominal charge. A restaurant is attached to the guest house and so, there is basic facility for visitors. Visiting guests are required to produce their PAP and passport for the record. If you want to visit Sera, you can also book your room in advance.
